Should we be laughing or crying? You can be the judge of that... or maybe not (see today's Reflection below.

This Week's Reflection

Shoud we be laughing or crying? The question posed above!

I go on to say that, in each case, we should be the judge of that. But no, we shouldn't. We should let it go, let the moment pass. For to judge another is to encourage self-judgement. And all judgement is prejudicial - because we had our prejudices baked into us when we were young and impressionable.

Instead, as always, we need to simply be. In being we enhance our awareness, including the self-awareness that must include an appropriate awareness of our own madness, receding though it might be.

Which leads me to smug. On more than one occasion, one client or other has suggested that mindfulness and presence encourages smugness... "I really do think that you should try this (meditation) - it will improve your life" many a client has been tempted to venture. Is that "looking down" on the other from a position of smugness or am I being judgemental?!

You see, when go around in ever-decreasing circles when it comes to what we're exploring (as we must) this week. But, regardless of how ever many questions it begs, the bottom line is always the same... take a couple of nice long slow deep breaths, come back to the moment, allow the peace of mind that goes with that immerse you in the moment and... just let go, let go of it all.

When we do, by our very presence, we encourage others to raise their game, so to speak, to raise their presence... whether that sentence is smug or not doesn't matter - it's a statement of scientific fact.

This Week's Quick Tip

Here's a sobering exercise for you...

Reflect on how often today you behaved in a "normal crazy" fashion.

We're all afflicted with a normal mind, normal thoughts, normal baggage. Yes, with a little practice, all this normal stuff recedes but the self-awareness that we are developing must include an appropriate awareness of our own receding normality.
