This Week's Reflection

You've often heard me talk about the necessity of discipline. And you might have got the impression that that requires that we be hard on ourselves, push ourselves.

At least in part, this perspective on discipline comes from a belief - and we all know that beliefs are just dearly cherised thoughs! - that we're undisciplined. And, of course, if we're coming from a place of being "normal crazy", we'd have plenty of apparent evidence for our perceived indiscipline!

All that is now in the past. And, as this week's podcast and video explain, that past has nothing to do with you - you're not the person who couldn't stick to what you thought was a necessary action plan to achieve your goals - a "plan" that you now know wasn't necessary at all!

If planning is unnecessary (and we've talked plenty about that before) and if the apparent "evidence" of your past indiscipline is a thought-created fabrication, you'll understand that the discipline I'm talking about is all about being easy on yourself, in the understanding that you (all of us) have to do the little it takes to transform how you see yourself and your world.

Not only do we need to go easy on ourselves, chill a little and lighten up, we need to pat ourselves on the back too. And, even if you think that you've not much to pat yourself on the back about, pat yourself on the back for reading this far, this morning!

This Week's Quick Tip

As this week's Podcast suggests, you should get into the habit of pausing, reflecting and encouraging yourself.

So, right after you finish reading this: take a break, get up from what ever you're doing, take a step back and ask yourself what little things you've done differently recently, differently from how you might (or might not!) have done them in the past.

We need to give ourselves credit for the little steps that we notice ourselves taking, it is in each little step that we make progress. And it all adds up.
