THE MIND BOGGLES!! |
Change Your Life | June 27 2024 No. 867 |
In conversation, one-to-one, with an Online Program Owner I was taken by how described finding "the beauty in small things".
We, all of us, at some point or points in our life experience what might best be described as a "natural high" - when we are simply taken by the moment. Examples people cite include: the beauty of the setting sun (or rising moon), the birth of a child, an out-of-the-ordinary sporting achievment. All big things.
But we are surrounded by beauty, we are surrounded by the natural highs of being alive should we choose to be aware of them and appreciate them.
These apparently little experiences shouldn't just be experienced and appreciated - they need to be. Our acknowledging them deepens our awareness and, obviously, our self-awareness.
People have often queried this by wondering if, in appreciating myriad little things, we elevate them to a point that we no longer experience the real "natural highs" - I recollect someone saying to be in a workshop years ago "Being in that state sounds awfully boring".
It is quite the opposite. In fact, it is so far the opposite that the thinking mind wouldn't understand it... surprise, surprise! When we immerse ourselves in experiencing the here and now, acknowledging the privelege of being alive and appreciating the moment, we reach a "natural higher". No longer are we seeking our next "fix" of pleasure (totally different to happiness, by the way), no longer are we attached to our ideas of what we need to make us happy and no longer are we prone to the opposite - the ying and yang, the normal ups and downs, highs and lows.
We end up on the higher plane, experiencing the almost-too-good-to-be-true natural higher that is the hallmark of living exuberantly in the flow.
Do I need to spell out this week's Quick Tip? Really?
Your life today is full of beautiful moments, moments that pass most people by. You don't have to slow down or take the time to appreciate these moments, you simply have to choose to know that you're aware of them - awareness of awareness, if you like!
Making the moment-to-moment choice to be aware is vital - it stops your automated mind making the automated choice to acknowledge, experience and appreciate... nothing at all.
