This Week's Reflection

 

Observing non-judgementally breaks the normal chain that takes a real experience, adds thought and creates a false and personal version of reality. Don't think about that, just let it sink in.

 

This is a key reason why we need to meditate. In choosing to allow ourselves simply experience each moment in meditation, we break that norml chain reaction that leads to knee-jerk reactive "living" (not actual living at all).

 

The same happens when we do an exercise such as that which is explored in this week's Video. Observation of the moment with nothing either added nor taken away has a cascading impact on our lives.

 

When we stop thinking about what we're observing, we stop thinking and, most importantly, we stop thinking about who we think we are. Or, to put it another way, when we stop judging what we're observing, we stop judging ourselves. That's the breakthrough. That's the quantum leap.

 

And, if you haven't experienced liberation from your own self-judgement yet, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep meditating. When we do that regularly, you restructure the key components of your brain. That means your brain is a differen shape to the one given you by 1.8m years of evolution.

 

So, if you haven't experienced that liberation yet, the actual fact is that, with regular meditation, you have already made an even more fundamental leap - you've already taken an evolutionary quantum leap.

 

That changes everything.

Go out for a walk at lunchtime. Or arrive early to pick up the kids. Or get to your next meeting early. In the space with which you provide yourself as a result of doing so, simply observe what you're seeing. Add nothing to your observations: no thoughts, no judgements. Just observe one thing at a time and, inevitably, one thing at a time arises and passes.
