This Week's Reflection

 

This week's podcast - yes, the podcast is back! - asks the question "Will This Podcast Change Your Life?"

 

This week's video actually answers the question!! Changing your life is simply a question of paying attention. Yes, I know, people will try to complicate the simple but there's nothing complicated about paying attention to the here and now... the key to living and loving your life.

 

As you'll have gathered, we're boiling things down to the essentials here - but the essentials are all you need. As an aside, you'll remember, a couple of week's ago, we talked about your fundamentals. Much the same thing.

 

Now, there is a minor wrinkle! We're not very good at paying attention. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it simply doesn't come naturally - not at our age anyway (assuming you're older that 13 and admitting it!!!)

 

So we have to aclimatise ourselves to it. The first step in this is choosing to pay attention. Or, actually, the real first step is choosing to meditate because, until you do, you won't know what it's like to actually, really and properly pay attention.

 

Once we've started experiencing the difference between what we thought of as "concentration" or "focusing", once we've begin to get a feel for paying attention, then we simply choose - again and again - to do it during the course of the day.

 

And, sooner or later (probably sooner!), you're restructured brain will start doing it for you. Or, plainly speaking, paying attention will come naturally.

 

 

 

This Week's Quick Tip

 

Pay attention to your lunch!

 

Yes, most people gobble down their lunch either whilst doing something else or to ready themselves to do something else. Either way, they miss lunch - they will have eaten it but the experience (otherwise called "life") will have passed them by.

 

So, stop and give yourself ample time. Chew, chew again, taste, swallow. Repeat! Drink slowly, taste, swallow, repeat. It's simple when you get used to doing it.
