This Week's Reflection

 

We can, we must, be a force for good. When you are not in control of your own state of mind, don't fool yourself, you're not useless, you're worse than useless... a dangerous loose cannon in whose line of sight anyone and everyone can get hurt - without you even realising! How do you think that even the most loving childhood can leave the resultant adult feeling so inadequate or, at least, thinking that they are inadequate?

 

We need to be vigilant, on our case all the time. When we slip, we need to pull ourselves together purposefully and immediately - who knows what damage you will do to yourself and others if you've slipped, fallen and are wallowing in it?

 

We can't change the world - not on our own. But that doesn't absolve us of our responsibility to change our world and, in doing so, impact the experience of those around us - to that they experience good, not delinquent, irresponsible mindlessness. In taking responsibility for your state of mind and presence of mind in the here and now, together, we will shift the dial in a world where the dial needs shifting.

 

I'm not going on some crusade. I'm old enough, long enough in the tooth to know that preaching generally has the opposite to the desired effect! I am merely pointing out our responsibility - mind and your's - to be the best that we can be as much of the time as is humanly possible and, that when we do stumble, we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off as quickly as is humanly possible.

 

Ultimately, it's all about being aware - aware of where I am, what I am (listen to this week's Podcast!) and the state of mind in which I find myself.

 

 

 

This Week's Quick Tip

 

Awareness, Awareness, Awareness.

 

We must ensure that we are aware moment to moment. And, if that awareness is of our being "all over the place" or lost in thought well, at least, we are aware of it. Were we not aware of it we couln't do anything to bring ourselves back to simple and effortless awareness of the moment.

 

So, this week's Quick Tip - stop and allow yourself become aware of where you are, how you're feeling and what you're thinking. Everything starts with awareness.
