THE MIND BOGGLES!! |
Change Your Life | June 29 2023 No. 815 |
We're not very subtle as human beings. We like our pleasures to be obvious and, preferably, immediate. We like them big and in your face or, in fact, in our face!
We notice big things. For example, when it comes to eating, we'll taste the big flavours - that assumes we're mindful enough and present enough to actually taste what we're eating at all! We'll miss the subtleties that go to make up those big flavours.
We like our 'phones big, our televisions big and, for many people, our cars big! We need to be slapped across the face by the experience of the moment to feel anything.
And, yet, the real experience of living the moment comes from the subtler sensations - the gentle breeze on our face, the aromas of the morning, the earthy smells that come with rain, the accent on the nose of a glass of wine.
Am I just rambling? Not at all - there is an extremely important point to be understood here: our bodies are big and obvious to us, our aches and pains are often all too obvious. What's not obvious to us is that our bodies are "talking to us" all of the time at a subtler level. And what will never be obvious to you until you allow yourself experience the subtlest of sensations, is that your body is actually trillions of filaments of vibrating energy - the vital energy lost to you when you're lost in the world of thought but immediately at your command when you're present, in flow and in the zone.
Allow yourself experience the subtlety of the moment.
Sit still and turn your attention to your breathing - not "big" breathing or deep breathing, just pay attention to your ordinary breath.
Turn your visual attention to something in your immediate line of sight and allow your eyes explore it, even if you've seen it thousands of times before.
As we experience our life, in moments, we will best discover who we are and that of which we are capable when we look at everything with a fresh pair of eyes!
