This Week's Reflection

Both this week's podcast and video explore the way in which thoughts become beliefs. I could (and I have!) put it another way - how our thoughts become expectations. This is an important perspective because we know, from decades of psychological research and a decade of neuroscience, that we perceive and achieve according to our expectations. This is why we set our minds to what I call the "Perfect Moments" that we would love to experience in our lives.

How does this mesh with this week's Quick Tip? Indeed, how does it mesh with we we constantly talk about the significance of the "now"?

I recollect, a number of years ago, a client, a Sales Manager who lived by targets, telling me that, as a result of his targets and goals, he lived in "a constant state of dissatisfaction" - and I can understand that.

The "now" is all that matters. We need to appreciate even the life-giving breath that we are taking now. When we set our minds to future nows, we do so to align our inner direction, beliefs and expectations with our dearly held "heart's desires". Once we set our minds, these things are no longer top of mind, nor should we re-read what we've written, we should think about them again. We focus on living, enjoying and appreciating now, knowing, deep down, that, having set our minds, we are flowing in the best direction for us and those we love.

And, when a perfect moment occurs, we will, as a result of our being present, appreciate that now too and, indeed, we will appreciate its significane.

This Week's Quick Tip

This week - perhaps over this coming weekend - I would suggest that you take a little time to reflect.

Consider what you have and appreciate it. What you have now is all that matters now.
