THE MIND BOGGLES!! |
Change Your Life | March 9 2023 No. 799 |
Following up last week's video, I got a little abuse (I'm used to it!) from... a couple of half-wits!!!
You might notice that, in this week's Quick Tip, I mention that one thing (wondering) leads to another (worrying). But it's even more bizarre than that when we employ our normal way of thinking or, should I say, when we allow our thinking mind abuse us. Yes, it's something that comes naturally to us!
Any apparently random thought that pops into your head is a potential landmine. For starters, although the htought might feel random, chances are it has come from the repository of all rubbish in our heads... the 70,000 thoughts what whizz through our head every day.
These thoughts - generally absorbed by the subconscious - run our lives. Or, perhaps, that's a misprint - they ruin our lives. And they largely go unnoticed... until it is too late, until we find ourselves in a funk of our own creation.
Wondering about the future leads to worry. Thinking about the past divorces us from the present. A pleasant thought will generally attract the unpleasant, a positive the negative... it's how the automatic mind rolls!
That means a positive thought doesn't counteract a negative one, it encourages a negative one. It's why two half-wits will never make a whole anything - they may well just dig you into a deeper hole!
So, what are we to do? Surely you cannot stop thinking. Surely some thoughts are of value. And, yes, some are: like the thoughts the you employ by way of the expertise for which you are paid as you work. But, generally speaking, the automated nature of our thinking mind inevitably leads us down dark alleys.
Therefore, we must keep ourselves on our toes, be alert to how our mind might be abusing us in this, the present moment. We must, as this week's Quick Tip suggests, constantly ask ourselves how far from the reality of the present moment has our thinking mind taken us.
You will, today, as sure as I'm writing this, find yourself off in the future, wondering or worrying (one thing leads to another!). Or, at least, I hope you do!
If you don't, you will simply not be tuned into what's going on in your own head!
So, as today progresses, every-so-often, ask yourself what you're thinking right now!
