This Week's Reflection

I mention daisy chains in this week's Quick Tip - a nice way of putting how our nasty thoughts gang up on us.

Any one of those thoughts holds the dubious potential of taking us down an alley and beating the living crap out of us. Truth be told, we beat the living crap out of ourselves by choosing to beat the living crap out of our selves (actually this happens when we chose not to be present).

But lets dissect that last sentence. We actually beat ourselves out of living and the result is a whole heap of crap - some of it immediately evident, some of it a little less evident but more insidious.

And it's the insidious stuff that is most destructive. When we allow thoughts that create frustration or impatience occupy our minds, we don't just divorce ourselves from living our lives in the moment. We impede ourselves in living the kind of lives and experiences to which we have set our minds in the future by inherently questioning as to whether that to which we have set our minds is actually going to happen at all.

When will my Perfect Moment happen? Why hasn't my Perfect Moment happened? By the way, people always forget to add the "yet" to the end of that last sentence! Because as Perfect Moment will only happen at the perfect moment!

And, if we are harbouring such self-impeding thoughts, we will delay the Perfect Moment or, worst of all, we may miss it altogether (miss the opportunity or opportunities that lead us there or actually miss the actual occurance of the Perfect Moment) because we were absent when it called!

You know what the moral of this week's stuff is, don't you!

This Week's Quick Tip

Frustration - impatience by simply another name - is, as you probably already know, just a thought or, perhaps more to the point, a daisy-chain of thoughts.

Stop this before the chain reaction gains momentum. Stop it by stopping yourself in your tracks, becoming aware of where you are and how it feels to be alive (the easiest way to do that is focus on how it feels when you breathe).

The ease with which your life flows is up to these little course corrections that we need to regularly take.

Normal @%!*#y People!

Just back from holidays where, in mingling with other holiday-makers (people out of their routine and, therefore, their comfort zone) who have provided us with great entertainment along the way.

The one that still entertains us most is the childish lengths so-called adults go to to conceal the fact that they're preparing their packed lunch for the day ahead by grabbing everything that they can get their greedy little hands on from the breakfast buffet!

For now, let's focus on the business executive who carefully loaded his briefcase with six apples. Yes, six - it would make you wonder if there was ever anything work-related in the briefcase in the first place!

He performed his three raids on the breakfast buffet with such adept skill it was like watching a covert operation.

But someone else - the girl on reception - was being entertained too, for our ever-careful business executive was carrying out his covert raids right beneath the CCTV camera just above where he was sitting...
