A couple of weeks ago, one of my now most listened to podcast episodes was entitled "You Are At Your Best When You Are Not Thinking" - it is wonderful to see that people are captivated by that subject rather than another one of the most listened to episodes which focused on the waste of worry.
To say that we live in worrying times is a self-evident truth, regardless of the times in which we live. We are built for worry, we are wired for "what-iffing" and "what if" always ends up in the negative.
What if everything worked out for the best? What if we flow through the day today? What if today is the day on which our perfect moment lands in our lap?
If we approach today's nows from that positive perspective, our outlook will change. But it will still be our outlook, our perspective.
I know this sounds strange but we would be better off living in the moment without perspective - perspective, thought by just another name, clouds the reality of the moment, the joy that we explore in this week's podcast.
Instead, why not opt for experience - an unadulterated experience of the moment, the only thing that, in this moment, is real. When we do, we are at one with the moment, our energy is unimpeded, we flow. And, when we flow, everything flows for us.
Experience is the key. But, as today's Quick Tip suggests, we have to deliberately start experiencing through deliberately noticing and paying attention. And, as this week's podcast suggests, pure experiencing is found through meditation.
We really are at our best when we're not thinking.
Employ your senses today to enable you stay close to the reality of the moment.
For example: you could deliberately notice and pay attention to the smell of your cup of coffee or, indeed, the grains when you're making it.
You could rub the palm of your hand along the top of the table or worktop to, quite literally, get in touch with reality. Again, you'll deliberately notice and pay attention to what you're feeling and how it feels.
The key is in being deliberate - it is a choice and, moment-to-moment, we all have a choice to make: am I in the real world or in the world of thought?
