This Week's Reflection

Over the last few weeks, we've been delving into thought: the various different types and aspects of thought and how all thought, no matter how important or valuable we think some types of thought might, is filtered through our automated thought which, at the very least, diminishes the value of any and every other thought.

We've delved into self-thought and its construct - the Conceptual Self. We've explored how real the Conceptual Self can feel and how, the more we explore our real self, the noisier the Conceptual Self can become. Until, of course, he or she... drifts off over the horizon.

In the meantime and as your journey in self-discovery progresses, you will, like the rest of us, be tempted to try to convince yourself that you're better than you think you are or things will turn out better than normal.

There's no merit in trying to convince yourself of anything. Convincing, like trying to figure things out or think things through is what you and I both know it is deep down... it's just another way of thinking.

And, even if your positive thinking is having an impact (or if you think it's having an impact!), it's still being filtered through your automated way of thinking, which renders it pretty much useless or worse...

Worse? Yes, you could end up convincing yourself that things will work out without you doing the necessary to get the outcomes that you want or, more to the point, the ones that would be best for you.

The moral of this week's rather convoluted Reflection? Stop thinking, starting simply turning up to the here and now and see what happens, notice the signposts, move forward be taking the little, effortless, action that's necessary to lead you to the life that's best.

Something worth reflecting on as we cruise into the holiday season.

This Week's Quick Tip

Right now, allocate a little time today for a special person... you. I'd suggest that the time allocated for what I'm about to suggest should be, at a minimum, 15mins. If you think you haven't got 15mins to spare on yourself, don't think again, just do it.

In the little but all-important window that you've allocated for yourself, wherever you happen to be... look at what's before your very eyes, with fresh eyes, as if you've never seen what you're looking at before. What you're looking for is a first-in-a-lifetime experience.

Because this here and now, every here and now is, actually, in reality, a first-in-a-lifetime experience.
