Change Your Life | December 4th 2025 No. 941 |
As you'll have seen above, this week's episode of my podcast, To Succeed... Just Let Go, explores relationships - one of the essentials of everyday life, for better or for worse, the good, the bad and the ugly!
All relationships funtion (or not!) based on the relationship that you have with yourself.
Yes, I know, your so-called Conceptual Self is not real and, in reality, does not exist. But, as we all know, this figment of our imagination sure feels real - when we're annoyed with ourselves (who's annoyed with whom?), when ew scold ourselves for not doing or saying something that we know was required of us (who's beating up who?); when we tall ourselves "No You Can't" (who's critiquing who?).
And, by the way, before we go any further, your Conceptual Self isn't even a figment of your imagination - it's the shadow cast by the imagination of others - or the lack thereof - when you were young and impressionable.
But, as we said, when we end up having an argument with ourselves, it sure feels real and the really interesting thing is that, at the outset of our adventure into the real world through focus and meditation, the Conceptual Self can get loader, more aggresive and offensive.
I know this sounds weird but, even though your Conceptual Self isn't real, it feels threatened the moment your start exploring the real world beyond your thoughts. It will fight back and fight dirty.
And if you're experiencing or have experienced this... that's wonderful - the weirder the better because... weird ain't normal!!
Pay close attention to what's going on today because some of the insights, ideas and "Ahas" that we get will often go in one ear and out the other, so to speak, as a result of their apparent insignificance.
Aha Moments come in all shapes and sizes and generally occur when you're involved and immersed in doing something completely unrelated - mundane things like brushing your teeth or pouring a glass of water.
It is for this very reason that we need to immerse ourselves in each moment - each moment is neither insignificant nor mundane.
