Take a moment to notice how you're feeling... feeling with your hands, body in the chair, feet in shoes, the touch of your clothes against your skin.
Take a moment to notice how you're feeling emotionally... just notice, don't think about it - a little thinking is a dangerous thing.
Take a moment to simply realize who you are and where you are... this is not a step on the road to self-awareness - it is self-awareness.
If you've been following last week's Action Plan, you have already taken important steps to being focused and present in the only place and time that you can live your life... the here and now. This Action Plan is necessary because, with the best will in the world, a mind that is completely clear at 8.00am may be all over the place by coffee break. After all, for starters, you are surrounded by Normal Crazy People... and that's a fact.
So, what do you do when the wheels come off? How are you going to pull yourself together and get going again? Is there a reset button you can push?
Well, the answer to all these questions is to be found in each week's Quick Tip... and today's Quick Tip is no exception. There is a reset button - it is pushed when we come to our senses... you have five of them, take the time (make the time) to pay them your undivided attention.
The problem is, of course, that once we quite literally lose our mind, it can run amok... indeed, even a positive thought can drag us down an alley and mug us - our thinking minds are very good at that. So you have to be on your toes to take the necessary steps to keep yourself on your toes - it's something of a conundrum.
So, by way of ensuring that, for starters, you push the reset button with some sort of frequency, set the alarm on your 'phone so that you can, at set times, push that reset button... after all, the alarm is designed to wake you up!
And, next week, I'll explain what I meant by "for starters" in that last sentence...
Thought we might wander down to Provence for a long weekend... might even visit one or two of our favourite vineyards! So, as one does, we searched until we found a nice hotel near Avignon - a nice hotel with a really good restaurant (very important particularly as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere!) that their website went into in great detail... menus, photos, etc.
I was on the verge of clicking Book Now - for three nights, Saturday, Sunday and Monday - when it occurred to me to check if their fine restaurant closes any evening...
Yes, the famous restaurant is not open on a Sunday evening... or any time at all on a Monday! Very very French!!
